Hi, I’m Catherine—the heart and hands behind Smelly Nellies.

I live in beautiful Cheshire with my children and my dog, Nellie (who was actually named after the business!). As you might have guessed, I am a huge dog lover and a friend to all animals... though I’m still working on my friendship with spiders!

The Smelly Nellies Story

My journey began in 2017. At the time, I was selling handmade cards at the Hyde Artisan Market and was looking for a "consumable" product to offer alongside them. That’s when I discovered the world of wax melts, and I haven't looked back since.

From day one, I’ve stayed true to the quality my customers love. I’ve used the same premium wax since 2017 and source my fragrance oils exclusively from the most reputable suppliers, ensuring every melt provides a clean, beautiful scent for your home.

A Journey of Wellness

Over the last few years, my health has taken a bit of a decline, which led me to take a step back from the physical market scene at the end of 2023. While I’ve had to slow down and pause my cosmetic lines like bath bombs and soaps, it has opened up a new chapter for me.

I am a very spiritual person, and I’m currently training to be a Holistic Wellbeing Coach. This journey of healing and wellness is now woven into everything I do, including the intentional way I craft my home fragrances.

Life Outside the Workshop

When I’m not pouring wax or studying, you’ll likely find me on stage! I’m a singer in a fabulous band called The Beautiful Failures (come find us on YouTube and Facebook!). I love to keep busy and stay creative, whether through music, coaching, or crafting.

Looking Ahead

I truly miss the buzz of the markets and the joy of meeting my lovely customers in person. My goal is to "dip my toe back into the water" and return to the markets sometime next year.
